Using Family Books in German Research
After you view this class you will know about two main types of “Family Books.” One was created by and is found at the local parish or parish district level for some parts of Germany – it is part of the church books. The other is a printed/digitized source, also generally covering a local parish, created from information found in church and civil records – perhaps with information from land, tax, census and other records added to it. Pictures of landowners, estate houses, farm areas and so forth might be found in this latter source.
This presentation was recorded live for the "German Family History Research" Expo. The individual Research Guide for this class is included with this video. It is available to download as a PDF immediately upon purchase. If you would like a printed copy of the book, German Research Guide: Sources, Strategies, and Methodology, please click here.
