Fashion from the 1820s and 1830s
The 1820s and 1830s were a transitional time in the world of fashion design. The Regency period was over; the fashions of Jane Austen’s time were changing. London and Paris were the center of the fashion world, and new clothing styles were being designed.
In American cities, high fashion was available as soon as the European designers created their styles, produced engraved fashion plates – or even handbills – and sent them across the oceans, a two-month voyage by ship. Designers in American Cities would create the new fashions seen in the Fashion plates.
The clothes in this collection are based on beautiful historical fashions.
We hope you enjoy these paper dolls, whether for your own enjoyment, or as an activity with your daughter, grandaughter, or other young person. And don't forget the boys!
